A2 Design Matrix

"As Designed" is an ad for a fictional toilet paper company called Toile Papier. As the sender of the ad, they hoped to include themselves in the conversation that has arisen recently on the internet in the manner of hanging toilet paper. The add was meant to be in a humorous and clever retort to both sides of the argument while adding a possible third solution to the debate. They had hoped the audience could coalesce and agree that either way of hanging toilet paper was fine, so long as it was hung.  

The receiver they hoped to engage would be those who use the internet and are aware of the debate. Knowing that the majority of internet users are quite vocal in their dialogue.  

The data and information conveyed through the ad helps the receiver to understand that whatever side they agree with in hanging the toilet paper, over or under, are better than those who do not hang it at all.

While the idea and point of the view of the ads was to educate and entertain in order draw attention to the brand, from the point of view of those who discuss toilet paper outside of the home and in a more relaxed conversation.

The word and image used in the ad help to establish both sides of the argument for both sender and receiver. While the use of color helps to indicate that one of the sides of the argument is considered wrong or looked down upon compared to the other two.
